Editing

As I have been building up my portraits for the series "Little Black Dress", I have been editing down my final images. Below will be some of my first images in the final selection...

This series is to explore the female in portraiture, the photos will challenge the viewers gaze. The female is often photographed looking away from the viewer, inviting the viewer to 'gaze' upon her. However, with my series I will challenge this idea, having the female look directly at the viewer and posing in such a way that she is given 'power'.

Photographing in the studio allows me to remove any context from the scene, focusing all the viewers attention on the female. 

Here I have used a pink background, which is known to "encourage action and confidence".
