So today I spent four hours on a train! It gave me plenty of time to do some reading though and now I am in the lovely Kent to spend the week photographing various shoots! Over the weekend I went for a stroll with Georgia and took in some of the amazing views of Portsmouth...I took a few photographs of the day and we visited the 'Art outlet' where I saw some of the work of a local photographer. Nikon D5100, 18-55mm lens and natural daylight. Southsea, Portsmouth. In the Art outlet I came across some beautiful landscape photography, in particular by the photographer Harvey Mills. The prints were displayed amongst various art works and were printed in various different sizes and styles. I was most drawn to the glass photo prints, as they looked clean and crisp. I also liked how there were many different styles of Art but still seemed to all work well together.
One of my favourite photographs by Harvey Mills I came across was called 'Pampas'. This is a print taken in a very creative way, hiding and revealing certain parts of the scene using the plant life and a very low angle. The image is taken in colour and reveals a bright sunny day hitting the crisp outline of the wildlife and surroundings of a country scene. Looking further into his photography, I discovered his wedding and portraiture work. He uses a documentary style approach to bring out the joy and happiness of the wedding day. I was also intrigued by his on location wedding photography, including his portrait of the bride and groom on the beach. This adds a real personal touch to the wedding photography and makes his work stand out.
